There are a many different file formats that can be used when trying to saving an image for example, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIF and PNG. Some of these formats are great for saving with but may give either a high file size or poor quality. JPEG is one of if not the most common file type for saving images, this file type does not save in a high file size and have a high quality therefore these would be optimum for using on a website and the user wouldn't have to sit and wait for an image to load.
