Vector: Vector graphics are made up of points, lines and curves, these pictures are filled with solid colours and gradients which means even when the picture is zoomed up it is hard to notice any quality loss in the image. Software packages such as coreldraw and autoCAD use vector images as they are the best quality. Unlike bitmap, a vector image would be bad to have on a website as it would take longer to load and users may leave the page
Bitmap: Unlike vector graphics, bitmap images are made up of things called pixels, each pixel contains specific colour information. Pixels are extremely small and just one image may contain hundreds of thousands of pixels, this is why when a bitmap image is zoomed up on it loosed its quality but vector images don't. Bitmap images would be more suitable for a website as it wouldn't take as long to load the image up as it would for a vector image to load.
